Dine Development Corporation is Hiring an Environmental Scientist I Near Aberdeen, MD

Job Summary:

DDC 4C is seeking an Environmental Scientist III to join our team to provide environmental compliance consultation and management services in the development and implementation of environmental compliance programs. Assignments pertain to development of management plans to comply with Federal, state, and local environmental control regulations and goals (e.g., water, air, solid waste. The position requires thorough knowledge of all State, Federal, and Local regulations pertaining to environmental compliance programs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs test engineering and scientific services, special studies, technical writing, and other technical tasks as required. Tasks may include the research and development, design, planning, coordination, execution, and reporting on test programs of military equipment, commercial equipment, and other test items. A variety of technical and scientific support projects include applying instrumentation to test materiel and equipment, developing methods for data acquisition, acquiring, and recording test data, imagery, analyzing data, repairing and troubleshooting instrumentation, preparing and setting up test ranges, aligning instrumentation and equipment, verifying adequacy and accuracy of work, preparing and writing reports, removing instrumentation, and related support to test programs.

Physical III. Plans, coordinates, and conducts complex scientific assessments, studies and projects of environmental compliance, conservation, restoration, and pollution prevention initiatives. Reviews and prepares environmental permits, plans, reports, and related documents. Plans, arranges, and manages data collection and preliminary analysis work. Develops new information, considers data from a variety of sources, and modifies and originates approaches, methods, and procedures to plan and carry out assignments. Reviews and evaluates environmental sampling, surveys, and inventories. Reviews and evaluates samples of wastewater, soil, water, sediment, solids, semi-solids, liquids, and other regulated and non-regulated hazardous waste in accordance with applicable environmental, occupational safety and health regulations and laws. Performs determinations of characterization, identification, compatibility, nature, and degree of hazards and ensure safe and effective mitigation measures are taken. Investigates the containment, clean-up and reporting of spills and releases. Prepares and label samples, delivers samples, coordinates chemical laboratory analysis, and maintains logs. Provides professional scientific technical support and evaluations in support of projects. Monitors and inspects facilities and operations to identify and rectify environmental problems. Evaluates adequacy of control and abatement measures and identifies and makes determinations of alternate mitigation and pollution prevention measures. Work requires professional knowledge of physical science or environmentally related efforts.

Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in specialization or related scientific discipline and 3 yr. applicable experience; or a Master’s Degree in specialization or related scientific discipline and 1 yr. applicable experience. Specializations include Chemist, Health Physics, Physical, and Physicist.
  • Must have 3 yr. experience leading/supervising. Employees and projects
  • Must be able to pass background checks in order to access and work on Federal sites.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge/understanding of other Federal, State, and Local Environmental Compliance and Permitting.
  • Dependable, flexible, and able to travel and spend time in the field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook).

This contractor and subcontractor shall abide by the requirements of 41 CFR 60–1.4(a), 60–300.5(a) and 60–741.5(a).
